The Home Stores I'd Move Into if I Could

By Ashley French

With interior design, I really enjoy the process of collecting things. When you find something you love, it makes a space feel uniquely yours. Over the years, I've developed a loose list of places I return to again and again, whether I'm actually buying something or just looking for inspiration. Some are showrooms, some are online shops, some are places where a single visit can completely reframe what you're after. Here's where I go when I'm looking for something special.

1stDibs $–$$$$$
I've spent so many hours browsing 1stDibs. It's an online marketplace where dealers from around the world list vintage and antique pieces. Even if you're not buying, it's one of the best ways to train your eye and learn what you like and don't like.

Galerie Provenance $$$$
This by-appointment gallery always has at least one vintage item that makes me need to know the story behind it. Some places aren't really just about shopping — they're about encountering something that shifts how you see everything else. Galerie Provenance is that kind of place for me. You'll always find a vintage chair that adds a quirky style to the room.

Stahl + Band $$$
Stahl + Band on Abbot Kinney used to be Dennis Hopper's studio, and the creative energy never left. The space is still open and gallery-like, with furniture, lighting, and fine art sharing the room (without any of it feeling staged).

Shoppe Amber Interiors $$
I come here for the tableware (great glasses, plates, and napkins). The store is a great reminder that a home comes together through the small things just as much as the big ones.

Crate & Barrel $
Not everything needs to be a treasure hunt. Sometimes you just want a reliable resource for things like stylish outdoor furniture and accessories. Crate fits the bill.

Nickey Kehoe $$$$
I just love the atmosphere here. Their custom furniture is beautiful (and made in LA!), but what I love most is how the shop mixes in vintage pieces, ceramics, and one-of-a-kind objects from all over the world.

Galerie Half $$$$$
Galerie Half is where I go when I need a dose of impeccable taste. The focus is elegant European 20th century (think Gio Ponti and Charlotte Perriand), and the curation is extraordinary.

Rose Uniacke $$$$$
Rose Uniacke is a designer with an incredible eye for color and texture. The bad news for me is that her showroom is in London, so it's rare that I have the chance to look at everything in person. The good news is that it's easy to get inspired and shop on her website. It's pricey, but I really do love her light fixtures.

Jenni Kayne $$
Every time I go to a Jenni Kayne store, I find something to fall in love with—the furniture, the candles, all of it. Their throw blankets are an especially thoughtful housewarming or wedding gifts.

Eneby Home $$$$

My favorite reason to visit Nashville is to spend time with one of my closest friends. My second favorite reason? Eneby Home. They import a beautifully assembled mix of antiques and vintage from Europe, and it's the perfect place to source those standout pieces that make a room feel unique.
